Facility to blog through mobile phones were available for quite some time in Blogger mobile, but only for a limited mobile network, and that too in America. Mobile Blogging facility that is real plain and simple was not available in countries like India. Now many players have come in to the field and blogging platform like ibibo who is pushing blogging by awarding top bloggers thousands of Dollors are pushing Mobile blogging in a big way.

Ibibo has introduced facility for Mobile blogging through simple SMS. It is predicted that Blogging through simple SMS may definitely increase quantity of bloggers and blogs, if not the quality.

Mobile blogging at ibibo is very easy. You need to open a blog account if you have not done it already and then register your mobile phone at ibibo by giving its number. Sine mobile blogging is provided through SMS, any network and nay mobile phone can be used. You will be asked to provide the password that is sent to your mobile number which is registered. Your blog is published through your mobile. Your post status is then confirmed again through SMS.

I tried to publish Unicode Hindi content in my ibibo blog post. I used Reliance India Mobile CDMA service and a basic LG mobile phone which had inbuilt Hindi SMS support. The result appears as ??????? which you can see :

It means, the Unicode encoding had been broken somewhere while in communication. Ibibo not only does support Unicode Indic languages but it provide online keyboard for these languages too. How do ibQ leagues work?

The earlier system of a ibQ Rank based on your ibQ Score will no longer be applied. Instead, your ibQ Score will place you in one of the six ibQ Leagues: ibq Bronze, ibQ Silver, ibQ Gold, ibQ Diamond and ibQ Platinum. Everyone will start as a member of the ibQ Blue League.

Thereafter, your ibQ Score, compared to those of other members of the ibibo community, will determine which League you are placed in. You will, of course, move from one League to another, depending on your ongoing performance as captured by your ibQ Score. For instance, if you’re in the ibQ Gold League at a particular point of time, you could move to the ibQ Diamond league if your ibQ Score increases sufficiently vis-à-vis those of others. Similarly, you could move to the ibQ Silver League if your ibQ Score does not increase sufficiently while those of others go up.

Your earnings will depend on the League in which you end the month. Every member of a particular ibQ League will earn the same amount. There will no longer be any ranks and payments based on them. Remember, the quality, relevance and originality of your blogs hold the key – technology or improbable levels of activity do not.

Your ibQ Score of an ibibo member will be calculated through an algorthim combining your activity with reader response, relevance and originality. This includes how other members rate your blog – an indicator of how the quality of a blog is rated by readers. The factors contributing to your ibQ Score include – but are not limited to - parameters like fresh and unique visitors, relevant comments and the number of fans.

IMPORTANT:
Each of these parameters is monitorel and has a minimum threshold requirement and an upper limit. This is to encourage genuine users to be more active and prevent misuse of the system by others. So every time you make a new post it adds to your ibQ Score. Then, the number of fresh and unique people visiting that post, the number of comments it gets and the number of people who become your fans contribute to your ibQ Score. Of course, your ibQ Score could also go down if the actions contributing to the Score are reversed/deleted. The Rating that the viewers give to a post also contribute to the ibQ Score of the user. This could push the ibQ Score up or down. ibibo members are free to post as often as they like, but the contribution of posts to ibQ Scores will be capped - to encourage genuine users and not offer an incentive to spamming. Naturally, the more relevant and original the content – the better are the chances of it doing well.
